Landscape & Heritage
The island of Ireland has an incredible diversity in its natural scenery. In a single day you can travel from the remote and rugged western coastlines, through the lush green pastures of the Midlands, to the rocky inlets and long sandy beaches of the South and East. Pristine sandy beaches, shady forest trails, crystal clear trickling streams and gushing waterfalls and long green glens make Ireland the perfect place to take things at a slower pace.

Ireland also attracts many visitors to its natural wonders such as the breathtaking Cliffs of Moher, the Burren with its delicate orchids nestling in the limestone plateau, the rugged peatland of Connemara and the Aran Islands, the unique Giant's Causeway in County Antrim, and the glacier lakes of the Wicklow Mountains just outside Dublin.

Ireland has been inhabited since the Stone Age and Ireland's ancient buildings are much in evidence across the country in the form of ancient pagan and monastic sites, medieval castles and historic houses. These attractions are as diverse as Ireland itself. They tell the story of ancient kings and invaders, famine and emigration, priests and poets, encompassing the social and industrial heritage which has shaped the Ireland of today. You can also visit a wide range museums, distilleries, interpretative centres, gardens, nature reserves and folk parks.
