The Chinese community in Ireland is one of the longest established migrant groups in the country and have been living in Ireland in significant numbers since the 1950s. It is estimated that in 1986 there were 1,000 Chinese people in Ireland while that number today stands at approximately 60,000, possibly the largest minority ethnic community in the country. There are hundreds of Chinese restaurants in Ireland, as well as dozens of Chinese cultural, sports and community organisations, and even a Chinese language newspaper.
